Important W-4 Update for 2022

Newly hired employees:

Please read the following about updates to the 2022 IRS form W-4. All changes to withholdings going forward must be completed via the Oracle Cloud Tax Withholding module (Cloud Review End-User Self Service Tax Training Guide).

If you are encountering difficulty in navigating the self-service option, please contact the Payroll Office at payroll@tcnj.edu for further assistance.

If you do not complete your 2023 W-4 information in Cloud, we will withhold federal income taxes at the single rate with no further adjustments.

See below for links to more information.

If your hire date is BEFORE 01/01/2020:

If your hire date is before 01/01/2020 you do not need to take any action.

However, if you want to change your withholding due to life changes or personal preference you must submit the 2023 version of the W-4 form following the directions above.

General instructions:

The 2023 Form W-4, Employee’s Withholding Certificate, is very different from previous versions. This is due to the federal tax law changes that took place in 2018. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) requires certain employees such as those hired in 2023 and anyone who makes withholding changes during 2023 to use the new form.

Before completing the 2023 Form W-4 in Cloud, please read the instructions found here.
